History
The Chinese association at University of California Irvine was formed in 1969 by a group of Chinese basketball players, with the intent of promoting Chinese culture and heritage among the students and staff of the university and beyond. It has been 40 years since the club was created and the club’s size and scope has increased greatly in the duration. Currently, we are one of the largest social organizations on campus and have joined leagues with the Asian Pacific Student Association, which connects us to 14 other cultural clubs on campus. What’s more, we’ve branched out from being a solely cultural club to include community service and various kinds of social institutions. We’ve also formed three different special interest branches, referred to as constituents; Chinese Association Dragon Boat(2003), Chinese Association Martial Arts(2003), and Chinese Association Dance Crew(1994).
With an organization that has approximately 550 members, we support a family system which breaks our large group into smaller, more personal ones. Everyone still has the ability to interact amongst one another, but by having families, we also give our members the opportunity to get to know others who share similar interests.
CAUCI has gone through many different websites. Below are links to some of the more recent CAUCI websites. Asian Pacific Student Association
